ARABICA
The most essential ingredient in your cup of coffee? The beans. Here’s why we choose to use 100% arabica beans.
A lot of factors influence the way your coffee tastes. One of the biggest – the type of coffee tree the beans come from. We only use 100% arabica beans, so you can enjoy the delicious, high quality coffee these beans help create.
Arabica beans make for a great tasting cup of coffee. The high quality flavour is grounded in elevation. Arabica trees thrive at higher altitudes, typically between 3,000 and 6,000 feet. At these elevations, hot days and cool nights slow down the growth of coffee cherries.
This gives the cherries and the coffee beans inside more time to develop, creating a deliciously refined flavor.
These beans contain approximately 1% caffeine by weight and 70.98 million bags are exported globally.*
Arabica has a refined flavour with higher acidity and more complexity.

As Starbucks® Coffee Engagement Manager Aaron Robinson says, “Arabica can be elegant. It can be complex. It can have body and acidity that is interesting and can be used and played with and blended into new, interesting tastes.” That’s why we buy arabica coffee beans.
When you’re sipping a Starbucks® coffee, at a coffeehouse or in your home, you’ll be experiencing the refined taste and great quality of arabica.
