How to Make Cold Brew Coffee With a Mason Jar

Using a simple Mason jar, you can easily make your own homemade cold brew—the perfect refreshment for warmer days.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Mason jar
  • carafe
  • pitcher
  • cheesecloth
  • rubber band
  • spoon

STEP 1

Add the coarse ground coffee. Use 4 tbsp (22 g) of coffee for each cup (180 ml, 6 fl oz).

Add water into the jar. Carefully pour water into the jar, then give the grounds a swirl to thoroughly wet them.

Cover the jar. Cover the Mason jar with a cheesecloth and secure it with a rubber band.

STEP 4

Let the coffee steep. Secure the lid and leave your coffee for 12 hours. Enjoy waking up to a perfectly concentrated brew.

Separate the coffee from the grounds. Strain the coffee into a pitcher by pouring it through a cheesecloth.

Add water, ice & you’re good to go. Pour one part concentrate with one part water into a glass with fresh ice, and enjoy your coffee at home!

Adjust the flavour of your cup to your preferred taste by adding more or less water. Give your cold brew a twist by serving it with a touch of cream, coconut milk or seltzer.

QUICK TIPS

Have some brew left over? Freeze it into ice cubes for a readymade treat on a hot day.
